Medieval Banner

Completed for the Church of Saint Catherine of Siena in New York City, this hand-lettered, illuminated canvas was designed and prepared to give the impression of a medieval banner painted on linen.

Frescoes

These two frescos are studies based upon Renaissance masterpieces in Italy— “Angel Playing the Lute” by Melozzo da Forli in the Vatican Museum, Rome, and “The Angel of the Annunciation’ “ by Jacopo Pontormo in Santa Felicita, Florence. These are true “buon” frescos— powdered pigment applied to wet lime plaster.
